i can't believe i've joined this blogging craze (20 years after the fact!). it's nice to get a little more personal than other websites (i.e. myspace, facebook) allow. that said, let's get personal!! i'm currently STILL in pocatello attending isu. i just changed my major from psychology to political science, but since i had taken so many psych credits i decided to go ahead and get a minor in that. this change added an extra semester, so i'll be graduating in december '09. then it's off to grad school doing i don't know what yet!
i'm living with my sis, brooke, in the rental next to my parents. i actually am loving this arrangement because we have our own space, yet are close enough to drop by and bum some food off the neighbors!!! plus i love my parents sooo much that i love being able to still hang with them!! the older i get the more i appreciate them. i actually lived in this house until i was 5, when we built on our land next door. when i was little i always dreamed of living in this house with my sissy while going to college. one dream come true!
another HUGE dream of mine just barely came true as well. a year or two ago i added running a marathon to my list of things to do before i die. when i first conceived of the notion it seemed much too incredible to ever accomplish, and i never really believed i could do it. you're supposed to train for 6 months, and i had really wanted to run in the pocatello '08 marathon in august. well, february came and went and i gave up on the dream for this year at least. however, in may a friend said she'd do it with me, and set up a (unbeknownst to me at the time, 6 month!!) training schedule. she ended up not going through with it, but i kept going (coming to understand what people were talking about when they said running is addicting!), still apprehensive for the august 30 deadline! the day of the race came, and my new expensive running shoes (that hadn't been a problem all summer!) had given me a HORRIBLE blister a couple weeks before, and was still bad the day of the race. on the way to catch the bus to take me to the starting line, my parents tried to convince me to not race, telling me it wasn't worth it to hurt myself. i knew i couldn't live with myself if i didn't prove to myself i could do it, so i went ahead and did it. getting on the bus i was the youngest by at LEAST 25 years, and the two men in front of me were telling me about the iron man races they'd done, as well as 100-milers their sons were doing. the only other female on the bus ,who sat next to me (girl power!) said it was her 50th marathon!! despite all that, i sucked it up and raced anyway!! the unthinkable happened (my ipod, aka my lifeline, froze .2 miles into the race!!) but it turned out to be such a FUN, incredible experience. i was more than prepared, didn't even feel tired, and my foot and joints didn't hurt AT ALL!! Heavenly Father was definitely with me without a doubt, which i am so very grateful for. i am so grateful for the support system i had, and for my own personal cheer team at the finish line! most shocking of all, i finished first in my age division!!! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!!!!!
